Neste novo volume, a garimpagem começa em 1976, partindo rumo a uma jornada de dez anos, que acaba em 1985, com o fim a ditadura militar no país.
A segunda metade da década de 70 foi um período de profundas descobertas e reviravoltas dentro da música brasileira. Entre os jovens, havia um desejo no ar, o de se ver livre das amarras da ditadura e de poder começar tudo de novo.
A herança cultural da década anterior parecia onipresente: o sonho hippie, a contracultura, o tropicalismo e os mandamentos antropofágicos dos modernistas ainda contavam, mas a trilha sonora daquilo tudo, o rock psicodélico, se transformava em uma gama muito variada de sons e atitudes.
A MPB encontrava-se imersa em conflitos ideológicos, enquanto artistas independentes atuavam fora de qualquer categoria conhecida, abrindo novos caminhos e dando as costas ao passado, às regras da indústria do disco e às convenções do rock anglo-americano. Essa saudável dicotomia fomentou a música contida nos 100 discos resenhados neste segundo volume.

The author investigates the records and trajectories of both the established acts and those who did not cause much impact at the time, but today are, or can become, sought after by collectors around the world. These are records of different musical genres, which, gathered under the banner of transgression, build a daring and peculiar scene.
In this new volume, the digging begins in 1976, setting out on a journey of 10 years, which concludes in 1985 with the end of the military regime in Brazil.
The second half of the 1970s was a period of deep discoveries and turnarounds in Brazilian music. Among the youth, there was a desire in the air, to be free from the shackles of the dictatorship and able to start all over again.
The cultural heritage from the previous decade still seemed ubiquitous: the hippie dream, the counterculture, Tropicalia, and the modernists’ “anthropophagic” commandments still mattered, but the soundtrack to that scene, psychedelic rock, was transforming into an array of different sounds and attitudes.
MPB found itself immersed in ideological conflicts, while independent artists worked outside of any known categories, opening new paths and turning their backs to the past, the rules of the record industry and the conventions of Anglo-American rock. This healthy dichotomy fomented the music contained in these 100 records.

Bento Araujo is a journalist, researcher and record collector. He started out playing in bands and working in record stores, until he founded poeira Zine, an independent print publication aimed at record collectors. His articles, essays and interviews have been published in newspapers O Estado de São Paulo and Folha de São Paulo, and in the magazines Bizz and Rolling Stone, among others. As a lecturer, mediator and curator, he has participated in events in Brazil and abroad. His book Lindo Sonho Delirante: 100 psychedelic records from Brazil (1968-1975), published in Portuguese and English, was sold in more than 40 countries. He was born, raised and still lives in São Paulo, Brazil.

Considering the manifesto-album Tropicalia ou Panis et Circencis as a sort of ground zero of Brazilian psychedelic music, our digging begins in 1968. From Tropicalia ou Panis et Circencis we set off on a journey of eight years, ending at what is maybe the rarest and most mythological Brazilian psychedelic album of all, 1975’s Paêbirú: Caminho da Montanha do Sol, by Lula Côrtes and Zé Ramalho.

Bento Araujo is a journalist, researcher and record collector. He started out playing in bands and working in record stores. In 2003, he created poeira Zine, an independent publication that introduced a considerable amount of information on artists from around the world who had never captured the attention of mainstream media. After 13 years of intense activity and 69 issues published, poeira Zine’s impact paved the way for a weekly podcast: poeiraCast. The author has also had his articles, essays and interviews published in the two biggest Brazilian newspapers, O Estado de São Paulo and Folha de São Paulo, as well as in music magazines such as Bizz, Rolling Stone, Rock Brigade and Roadie Crew. As a presenter, he worked with Gastão Moreira and Edgard Piccoli on the Heavy Lero show. As a lecturer, mediator and curator he takes part in many musical events throughout Brazil and South America. As a reporter, he has covered festivals, shows and musical events in the U.S., Europe, and several Latin American countries.

O jornalista, pesquisador e colecionador de discos Bento Araujo, editor da revista poeira Zine, acaba de lançar uma campanha de financiamento coletivo (crowdfunding) para lançar o seu primeiro livro, Lindo Sonho Delirante: 100 discos psicodélicos do Brasil (1968-1975). O livro é uma celebração à música psicodélica e inventiva produzida no país – uma autêntica antropofagia tropical. O objetivo é mostrar que existiu rock psicodélico brasileiro e finalmente mostrá-lo ao mundo, já que o autor escreveu o livro em português e em inglês.
Para preparar o livro, Bento Araujo passou mais de um ano reouvindo, analisando, compilando, contextualizando e resenhando os cem (100) grandes álbuns e compactos psicodélicos que mudaram para sempre a música feita no Brasil e na América do Sul. O autor também garimpou histórias, curiosidades e informações inéditas sobre um dos períodos mais incríveis e inspirados, porém ainda absurdamente negligenciados, da música brasileira.
Considerando o disco-manifesto Tropicalia ou Panis et Circencis como uma espécie de marco zero da psicodelia nacional, a pesquisa começa em 1968 e termina oito anos depois, com o lançamento do talvez mais raro e mitológico disco psicodélico brasileiro, Paêbirú: Caminho da Montanha do Sol, lançado por Lula Côrtes e Zé Ramalho, em 1975.
A análise da criação e a interpretação do simbolismo dessa lisergia tropical cria uma iconografia inédita, um volume que funciona como um presente à memória da música nacional e àqueles artistas brasileiros que expandiram a mente em nome da arte, em plena era de sangrenta repressão militar e de extremo preconceito social. Todos estão juntos em Lindo Sonho Delirante, os medalhões da música brasileira que em algum momento flertaram com o rock psicodélico e também os malditos e esquecidos, muitos deles que estão pela primeira vez tendo a sua chance de aparecer para o mundo.

O intuito da nova etiqueta é publicar livros com o carimbo de qualidade da poeira Zine e possibilitar o lançamento de obras com pautas que, nunca, em nenhum lugar do planeta, foram de interesse de alguma editora. Portanto essa é a oportunidade de fazer tudo isso acontecer de forma totalmente independente e verdadeira.
Para viabilizar o primeiro livro do selo, de autoria de Bento Araujo (editor da pZ), será lançada em breve uma campanha de financiamento coletivo, ou crowdfunding, que é uma espécie de “vaquinha virtual”, onde as pessoas interessadas podem ajudar financeiramente o projeto em troca de recompensas.
